Making Greener Choices

Firescoff

Artisans and craftspersons have long been ones to care about the environment and respect the natural world around us.  The use of found objects, recycling, upcycling, and so forth have been part of the handmade landscape for a very long time.  There are, however, instances where chemicals are used in the artistic process.

For me, one of those processes was soldering.  I used flux in the soldering process and an acidic pickle solution to clean the metal afterwards.  I disposed of both properly in my city’s hazardous chemical collection.  But how wonderful to find a product that contains none of the hazards and can take the place of both flux and pickle.  I’m excited to get a little bit greener.
