Lorelei’s Blog Hop

Today’s the big day for the blog hop organized by Lorelei Eurto.  I like Lorelei’s blog and she’s done a few other blog hops and activities to bring jewelry makers together.  So, when I saw this one, I decided to participate.   Here’s her blog post announcing the blog hop and showing the beads she selected.  We could use them or not.  I chose some of them and added in a few of my own, plus some faceted garnets that jumped into my shopping cart at Fusion Beads.  How did that happen?  Since her original post, she pushed the deadline back to Jan 21 and here we are.

The first piece I made was the bracelet.  The base for the bracelet is a soldered and darkened oval and circle brass chain that I made.  I used the beautiful faceted glass and small wood beads from Lorelei’s suggestions.  I also added golden agate donuts, faceted garnet ovals, and Soo Chow “jade” teardrops.  All of the beads were attached using darkened brass headpins and extra wire was wrapped around the tops to add a little detail.

Matching earrings were made using darkened brass circles and the large glass beads.  Then I fell so in love with the darkened brass and beads that I made a second pair using the Soo Chow “jade”.  I’m happy with the pieces and thank Lorelei for organizing this blog hop.  I’m looking forward to visiting the other blogs once the list is published.

Here’s the list of participating blogs.  Please check out all their designs.  It’s always so much fun.
