Resin and Rhinestones

edited DSCF5534 2

I bought a bunch of vintage rhinestone pieces from Ebay and am experimenting with using them and resin. Here’s one of the finished pieces. And here’s what I’ve found out.

In this piece, the outer circle of rhinestones is completely encased in resin. The brilliance and shine of the rhinestones is not diminished by the resin. I wasn’t sure if covering the rhinestones in resin would affect their shine and sparkle. It did not.  The rhinestone pieces were delicate and now with the resin holding them, they are durable and there are no worries about stones falling out.

It is a wonderful way to make a unique pendant with rhinestone sparkle and shine. I sell pendants in both of my Etsy shops and most of them are made with purchased digital art. That’s all good, but it really does not give me a way to stand out from the crowd. Incorporating some unique items into my resin pendants helps me make a more unique and individual statement.
